For my first blog post, I wanted to share an anecdote that reveals my character, skills, and contributions to a team, specifically in a work environment.
Throughout my career, whether in customer service, childcare, student leadership, or marketing, I’ve consistently looked for opportunities to make a positive impact while continuing to learn and grow. As a Marketing student at the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business, I’ve developed a strong foundation in communication, branding, and consumer behavior. Beyond the classroom, my involvement with organizations such as the American Marketing Association, Women in Business, the Redtail Marketing Team, and my role as a Barney Ambassador have helped me strengthen my leadership, teamwork, and professional communication skills.
During a particularly busy day, the classroom was short-staffed and several children were struggling with transitions between activities. The environment quickly became overwhelming, and both the children and staff were feeling the stress. My responsibility was to help maintain a safe, positive environment while ensuring the children remained engaged and supported despite the unexpected challenges. Rather than waiting for direction, I took initiative by organizing a structured group activity to redirect the children’s attention and create a sense of routine. I communicated with other staff members to divide responsibilities efficiently and provided individualized support to children who needed extra guidance.
I approach every opportunity with curiosity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic. I enjoy collaborating with others, learning from experienced professionals, and finding creative solutions to challenges.
As an aspiring marketing professional, I’m excited about the opportunity to blend creativity with strategy to create meaningful experiences for people. Whether I’m supporting a team, leading a project, or learning a new skill, I strive to be someone others can rely on.
I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I do bring something equally valuable: a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and the determination to continuously grow.
